Book Fairs, Edits and Halloween, Oh My!

Hi everyone –

I can’t believe summer is already over and my favorite time of year has crept up! I guess that’s apropos for Halloween though, right? Creeping up on you when you least expect it? Muahahahahaha!!!!

*ahem*

Anyway, Night Walker and I have now been at two Book Fairs in San Diego! It’s been fun to meet so many book lovers and also meet other writers. Here are some pics from the San Diego Festival of Books at the Encinitas Library…

ß The display table… I love that poster! LOL

My table neighbor was a young author. Jarod Bainbridge writes and illustrates all of his books himself! He wrote his first book at 6, and his most recent release, Summer Vacation, was just released. He’s now a mature 9 year old!!! He’s been selling his books to earn money for his Washington DC trip with his school… I was really impressed. He stayed busy at the table and talked books beside me all day! He’s going to be a big author someday…

JJ and I after a long day of talking books! You can find out more about JJ and his new books on his facebook page… http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100001874907602&sk=wall

And this is Arianne who stopped by for some signed Night Walker goodies! She’s already got an eBook copy, but it was really fun to meet in person and chat! She’s so sweet… J You can check out her blog here… http://ariannecruz07.blogspot.com/2011/10/lisa-kesslers-night-walker-trading.html

This weekend I was at the San Diego City College Book Fair and I forgot my camera! Urgh! One of the Press Photographers did come by and take my picture, so if they email it to me I’ll be sure to post it. The highlight of the day was meeting a San Diego librarian. She was very interested in Night Walker and ended up buying a copy! So who knows… Night walker might end up in a few libraries in San Diego! How cool is that??? J (More Baby Steps to World Domination! LOL)

I’m deep into edits on Night Demon and I’m really excited with how it’s going! In the tradition of “Six Sentence Sunday”, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek. This scene is between our Night Walker hero Lukas, and Gretchen, and archeologist who has been working with him in the Yucatan deciphering Mayan glyphs. They’ve both been fighting a growing attraction, and as she shows him a new tile she translated and he finds himself very close to her.

She turned her head to glance at him, as he moved in for a closer look.

For a moment he forgot what he was. For just a moment, he was simply a man.

He leaned toward her, part of him wishing she would resist and save them both from the dangerous emotions growing inside of him. Her breath on his skin felt like the brush of angel’s wings. His lips parted, eyes searching hers, and she didn’t pull away.

Shew! *fanning self* Here are a few images of how I picture Lukas looking…

Okay enough of Night Demon…

This week I’ll be starting my Halloween Movie Countdown on my facebook page, http://facebook.com/LisaKesslerWriter  so I hope you’ll check in every day for some spooky fun!

And speaking of spooky fun… I already made a visit up to my favorite place on earth, Disneyland, for Halloween Time! Here are a few pics of the Halloween goodness! J

(I don’t know who our little admirer is, but he’s cute! LOL)

In honor of Dia de los Muertos, Panda and I got festive body art!

Like my Halloween Mickey ears? LOL Love them!

Another highlight of the trip… We ran into Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer in the park!!!! LOL

And they were from San Diego!!! What are the chances, right?

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

The next two weeks I’m participating in 2 different Halloween blog hops, so I hope you’ll swing by!!! I’ll have prizes, surprises, and some spooky short fiction to share…

See you soon!!!

Lisa

PS – I love comments and I love Halloween, so how about telling me about your favorite Halloween movies? I’ll even let you know if they’ll be in the Facebook Halloween movie countdown…. Muahahahaha! *ahem* Please? J
